The Hamilton Show Identity

I’ve had my design hat on this week, and put together a range of logos for the Hamilton Agricultural show in Tasmania. Established in 1950, the show is a chance for Derwent Valley locals (and even a few inter-state challengers) to put their produce, livestock and general country skill to the test, and to promote Tasmanian Agriculture in general. It’s also an excuse to try a homemade cake, admire a pimped-up ute, pat a pony or check out a prize winning chicken. Really, there is so much to see, if it’s from the country and just a little bit old school,  you’ll find it at the show!

The focus of the brief was to foreground Agriculture. I leaned heavily on a vintage, hand-crafted typographical logo with hand drawn animal icons. There’s a master logo inspired by the original logo (Derwent Valley locals will be familiar with the ram’s head), plus sub logos to represent the different sections found at the event, from the sheep dog trials to the show jumping. Aprons, tea towels and a new website are in the pipeline, so watch this space for updates.
